GREENWICH, CT — Festive holiday lights are once again shining bright on Greenwich Avenue, thanks to a private fundraising effort by residents and local businesses. And their effort means Cos Cob is enjoying holiday lights this season, too.
GREENWICH, CT — Each holiday season, Alyssa Keleshian Bonomo looks forward to seeing her husband and son string white lights around a tree outside their Greenwich home. Though the display is nothing elaborate, it still makes her family smile every time they look at it.
After a challenging year with many months of uncertainty, one thing will without a doubt feel familiar this holiday season: holiday lights will illuminate Greenwich Avenue once again.
GREENWICH, CT — Thanks to local businessman Sebastian Dostmann and public support, holiday lights are returning to Greenwich Avenue for 2020. “We’re very excited to be able to bring this back and do it better than ever,” said Dostmann, the managing partner of Seabass Events and Entertainment.
A new initiative involving display of dozens of American Flags on Greenwich Avenue is being presented by Greenwich Community Projects Fund at the Thursday, Feb 25 Board of Selectman meeting which begins at 10:00am.
According to the website, “Stars & Stripes,” would bring a historic and patriotic flair to Greenwich Avenue.
GREENWICH — The Board of Selectmen is considering a plan to fly American flags along Greenwich Avenue, but members said at their Thursday meeting that they need to fit that idea in with other efforts to improve and enhance the downtown area. “We want to create value and create spirit and create beauty in the downtown at a low cost,” said Alyssa Keleshian, a town resident who is leading the flag effort. “This is very easy to conceivably execute. … Everyone wants the small-town charm, so this is going back to small-town community charm.”
On Thursday the Board of Selectmen had a long discussion about a proposal from Greenwich Community Projects Funds, the same 501(c)3 who funded the lights on Greenwich Avenue, to set up a pilot program for valet parking.
The pilot would be for just two weekends, a total of four days and have two locations: one in the street by J Crew (at Lewis Street), and one in the horseshoe around the Greenwich Arts Council/Senior Center, which is closed on weekends.
GREENWICH — It’s only a test for now, but valet parking will be coming to Greenwich Avenue to encourage local shopping during the holiday season.
The service — costing $20 per car — will be offered from noon to 6 p.m. on the next two weekends: Dec. 12 and Dec. 13 as well as Dec. 19 and Dec. 20.
“This is meant to be a test,” said Sebastian Dostmann, who proposed the service with Alyssa Keleshian Bonomo. “We’re trying to give a service and bring residents to the Avenue and get people to shop local.”
Valet parking is coming to town this holiday season.
On Thursday, the Board of Selectmen unanimously approved a temporary pilot program that will install two valet parking stations on Greenwich Avenue to drive business for local merchants and curb parking problems that have usually plagued the busy roadway during the holidays.
The private service, which will cost residents $20 per car, will be run by Parking Productions over the next two weekends — Dec. 12 and Dec 13, and Dec. 19 and Dec. 20 from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m
